Hola, Amigos! We’re Guadalupe (Lupe) and Lucina Barragan. On behalf of our family and staff, we want to welcome you to Casa Chapala!

Our story began in the heart of Mexico, in the little town of Huitzila, Zacatecas where we were both born.
Lupe grew up in Guadalajara, the capital of Jalis
co (the birthplace of Mariachi music – and all tequila) and Lucina grew up in Los Angeles, California.
Our 20 plus years of experience came from the hands-on training we received working in our family’s restaurants in Washington State – El Jinete and El Cazador by name.
Since we both had a passion for great food, what better choice than opening our own restaurant?
Our mission? To serve only the best, most authentic Mexican food, prepared with the freshest produce, finest ingredients, greatest taste and lots of love.
Dale Rice of the Austin American Statesman said in February 2007, “Salsa doesn’t get any fresher than Casa Chapala’s.” (Hint: We make it right at your table!)
From our salsas, mole and marinades to signature entrees like Molcajete, Panchita del Mar and Pipian Verde - all are prepared from recipes our Abuelas used to cook for our families in Mexico. They were not affluent ladies, so they used ingredients that could be grown by the family or bartered from other families.
The simplicity of the recipes is the key to the out-of-this-world taste. They have the power to bring a sense of comfort and home to us when we prepare them daily to share with you, our guests.
When you dine at Casa Chapala, you are guests in our home – our friends – whom we appreciate very much. We look forward to sharing many meals with you and your family!
This is why we welcome you to our casa with a smile and a warm handshake, because we want you to feel the warmth and sense of belonging we all seek.
Thank you for being part of our Family. We truly mean it when we say, “Mi casa es su casa!”
